I live in Westchester. The through-line of my working life, whether it was court systems or money systems or the usual operational mess, has been the same job: loosen a ball of yarn someone else tangled until a person can actually use it. I show the file.

How I want to write these notes

Start with what they said. Then look at what the file actually says. Then say who paid for the difference. If I cannot point at the row, I don’t get the conclusion. Tools help me through a messy extract. They do not get to testify for me.

If I can take the ideology words out and a skeptical neighbor still feels something, the piece can go up. If it only works because I named a system I hate, it stays in the draft folder. Data can carry the argument. The feeling has to come out of the numbers, not get taped on afterward.

Why I bother

My family left Cuba. That’s the Reader’s Digest version, and I don’t lead with it. It is why I get restless when a ledger is ugly and nobody opens it, and why I start on the street I can walk.
